Please add your voice to the many telling the Australian Government that live animal exports should stop

1 July 2008

Worldwide protest is leaving Australia's Rudd Government in no doubt that there is broad opposition to its support of the cruel live animal export trade.

On July 1, in London as in Kathmandu and many other quite different cities protesters gathered outside Australian Embassies to condemn one of the cruelest trades in the world: Australia's live export of sheep to the Middle East.

In support of these protests, concerned citizens worldwide are writing to their local Australian Embassy to highlight the suffering inflicted on sheep sent to the Middle East for slaughter.

In just two days, almost 10,000 people from the US alone wrote to express their concern at the Australian Government's ongoing support for the inhumane transport, handling and slaughter of millions of animals every year.

Unified in their opposition to the trade, animal welfare groups around the world are also writing to Prime Minister Rudd directly, to raise their concerns about the trade's animal welfare implications.

The global protest is part of the Handle with Care campaign against the long distance transport of animals for slaughter.
